Illustraa was foaled on 30th September 1990, and in 1991 we were asked to show him for Kyremi Stud. Ray was requested to go to Molong to load the lightly handled colt onto a transport truck, and a few hours later I looked into the young colt's eyes apprehensively peering through the window of the truck as it entered the gates of River Oak Arabian Stud. These were the eyes of one of the most beautiful and awesome Arabians I had ever seen.
He was just beautiful - tall, refined and with so much type and quality that I decided, as he stepped off the transport, that I would talk to Ray about trying to purchase him. There was no argument there! Ray had been thinking exactly the same thing whilst he was loading him at the other end our decision was unanimous, and Illustraa quickly became a wonderful part of our lives.
Illustraa is by Australia's Supreme International Champion Stallion, Ralvon Pilgrim, from the highly decorated Pilgrim daugher Arjai Tammie. He is also full brother to our leading Australian sire, Arjai Summitt, in whose shadow Illustraa walked for many years. But, no longer – he had stepped from that shadow and now stands very much on his own merit.
Illustraa loves people and is an extremely kind and gentle horse, even though he possesses an awesome presence which has created a great following of Arabian enthusiasts.
