Our beautiful granddaughter Tahlee with one of her favourites 'River Oak Tamira'

Foaling News

River Oak Nemesia, full sister to River Oak Tabu, has foaled another beautiful filly by Australian National Champion Stallion River Oak Imprint.  Congratulations to her owner Mr. John Voitin.

Artwork by Rosemary McCullough

This beautiful artwork was done by our dear friend Rosemary McCullough of Romac Arabian Stud at Dural – the lovely mare is Romac K’Aila (Kyremi Illustraa x Jahahn Sirheera).  Tragically this beautiful mare, who was going so well in her saddle career with Greg Shepherd, died suddenly and, incredibly, only three days after her dam Sirheera underwent  unsuccessful colic surgery.   A terrible double loss to Rosemary and the Arabian horse world.

River Oak Shabu

“An oldie but a goodie” – wow River Oak Shabu (River Oak Tabu x Arjai Shula) was shown by his owner Alexandria Jones at the National Arabian Stud Horse Show and won the Youth Novice 2.2 Dressage, as well as the Open Arabian/Arabian Derivative Preliminary 1.4. Well done Shabu and Alexandria.  It seems like only yesterday we watched him, ridden by Sandy Langford, win the Bridle Path Champion at East Coast as a young horse – where does the time go??!!

Other River Oak horses to do well under saddle at the National were Woombai Desert Dawn and River Oak Prominence. See earlier news below.

River Oak Tabar - Half Share Sold

After Ray had painstakingly talked me into selling our tall, 3 y.o. grey Tabu colt, River Oak Tabar, upon his departure Ray had “a change of heart” about  selling the only Tabu colt we own and went into “what have I done!” mode and after talking with Naomi and Kurt they agreed to sell a half share back – so Tabar had a week’s holiday in Queensland before coming back to River Oak – good one Ray!!

Happy 25th Birthday Razz

Woombai Desert Dawn and stable mate Nunbilla Razzamataz have been holidaying at River Oak while Jane and Greg were in Bali and, whilst here,  Razz celebrated his 25th Birthday – he’s a grand old gentleman and we all love Razz.

Recent Sales

We are happy to announce the recent sale of the lovely big Summitt mare Stilton Farm Portia to Tanja Zimmermann.  Tanja was looking for a tall Arabian to ride and Portia, at 15.3 hands, fitted the bill perfectly.  Always easy going out on the trails and in all aspects of life, Portia will now go into work with Tanja. We have retained her son as a future endurance mount for Ray.

One of our favourite boys, the three year old Tabu colt, River Oak Tabar, has been purchased by Kurt Lord and Naomi Djuric and will be broken to saddle in readiness for a future in endurance once he is old enough. Kurt and Naomi, are celebrating more than their purchase of Tabar, they have just become engaged - Congratulations and every good wish for the future.  River Oak have retained services to Tabar. (Photos of Kurt, Naomi and Tabar coming soon)

We still have a few special horses waiting for their special owners to come and find them!!  Give us a call if you are looking for your special Arabian.

Rose Gum Ellustria

We received this lovely email from Richard and Glenys's Drew

Dear Ray and Kerry,
What an outstanding mare Rose Gum Ellustria has grown up to be. She is typical of that wonderful line of mares produced by the River Oak Stallion Kyremi Illustraa. Her wins at shows under halter including championships and supremes are numerous and she has been a top ten filly in the Australian championships. Now she is performing exceptionally well in the performance ring, always scoring high marks in dressage and championships in the hack ring. We are planning to bring her to Sydney for the National Stud Horse Show in November 2009 and hopefully the East Coast Championships and Australian Championships in 2010. We have attached an article from which you can extract notes, and a recent photograph from the recent Premier show. We would recommend to anyone to use River Oak stallions in their breeding programs. Please feel free to use any of this as testimony to River Oak Arabians on your website.
With very best wishes,
Richard and Glenys Drew

River Oak Platinum, Woombai Desert Dawn & River Oak Princess of the Dance

River Oak Princess of the Dance (River Oak Tabu x River Oak Riverdance, who was  bought from our Tender Sale by Bianca Gjec, has recently been broken to saddle by Jason Attard and is having a short stay at River Oak where Bianca is riding her and she will be bred to Kyremi Illustraa this season. look at Princess's page click here!

Woombai Desert Dawn (River Oak Prestige x Hume Creek Ashara) has recently been broken to saddle by Adam Maitland, who was her sire’s trainer and rider when he won Australian National Reserve Champion Arabian Stallion under Saddle in 2005.

Dawn is owned by Jane Blackett of Nunbilla Stud.  After being broken in by Adam, Dawn returned to River Oak where Jane rode her for a few weeks before returning her to Adam to be trained for her first outing under saddle.  Due to the cancellation of several shows, Dawn’s first outing was on Saturday 19th September at Blacktown Show where she performed beautifully to take 2nd place in the Novice Ridden Arabian and 2nd Place in the Open Ridden.  We are all thrilled with her progress and the great job Adam is doing with her. more about Dawn click here!

Meet 'Casey'

"It’s only a few months since we said goodbye to our beautiful little 13 y.o. Chihuahua Zoe, and I was REALLY missing her, sooooooo one night I took a look at the Pet Rescue Website “just for a look!!”.  Well, there he was, a cute little face saying come and see me, so I did.

Casey, is now a part of our family, he is a really sweet little guy whose owner died and he was passed around between people who did not want him and, finally, ended up in Pet Rescue.  And now he has his “forever” home as they say.

He is two years old, a West Highland Terrier cross and has turned out to be the perfect dog for us.  He has fitted in as if he has been here all his life, is a very obedient little dog (unless he has found something great to smell, then he needs a little hurry up) and we love him.  I think even Zoe would approve!"

- Kerry.

Rose Gum Goldrush

We received the following lovely email from the owner of Rose Gum Goldrush (who is by River Oak Imprint):

Hello again Ray & Kerry,

Just thought you might like an update on Goldrush. He was broken in about 4 weeks ago and is going really well undersaddle. He is my 5th young horse that I have started undersaddle and he is by far the most sensible. He is very mature for his age and copes with anything you ask of him. He will embark in a Dressage career and maybe a little Western down the track. With his relaxed personality and super smooth paces I think he will do really well in both these diciplines.

Hope you are well, maybe I will get down there and say Hi one day,

Cheers,

Joanne Linsley

At the annual Hawkesbury Show, which we attended in April (our last for the 2008 season), our lovely bay filly River Oak Promesse (River Oak Imprint x River Oak Tabette) on her very first show ring outing was awarded the sash for Best Filly and Champion Mare or Filly.
Our young stallion, River Oak Platinum also by Imprint out of River Oak Illusive Girl was awarded Champion Stallion and Supreme Arabian Exhibit.

River Oak Summ'ia to the UAE

River Oak Summ’ia (Arjai Summitt x Arabian Park Egyptian Queen) is on her way to the UAE for endurance.

Recent Sales

Following her success at Hawkesbury Show, River Oak Promesse has been sold to Pam and John Robins of Newbury Park Stud who plan to continue to show her before breeding from her and having her broken to saddle.

We have sold a half share in River Oak Platinum to Jane Blackett of Nunbilla Stud.  Future plans for Platinum will be to continue his halter career also showing him under saddle and eventually endurance. He will stay at River Oak where this tall (15.2 hands) impressive horse will stand at stud.

River Oak Princess of the Dance has been sold to Bianca Grgic and will be broken to saddle before being bred to Australian National Champion Stallion Kyremi Illustraa in the spring.  A show career is planned for her future.

River Oak Nemesia, full sister to River Oak Tabu, will be joining the breeding programme of Mr. John Voitin along with other mares John has bought from us. Nemesia is in foal to the Australian National Champion Stallion River Oak Imprint.

We wish all new owners every success with these lovely horses.
