 Our beautiful Tamerlane lost his long battle with a fungal lung infection and was laid to rest on Sunday 5th April 2009. It was a sad farewell as we had battled long and hard and he was always the perfect patient.  His beautiful temperament always shone through and we loved him dearly.

Bred and owned by our friend Grant Cockburn of Tallangatta Arabians, Tamerlane was born at River Oak and spent all his life with us.  His sire is Australian Champion Stallion Kyremi Illustraa and his dam was Tallangatta Hanifa who produced many wonderful foals who have been successful show and breeding horses.

Tamerlane was shown by us for Grant winning many Champion and Supreme Awards including Sydney Royal and he was the 2001 Australian National Reserve Champion Arabian Stallion.  He was broken to saddle and, due to EI had a short-lived saddle career but placed 2nd at his first outing in his novice class at that years National Arabian Stud Show.  After twelve months off he was saddled up and worked as kindly as if he had never stopped.

Unfortunately, he leaves behind only a handful of lovely progeny.

Like so many good quality Australian bred horses he was overlooked in preference to imported horses.

He was a beautifully conformed horse, with good feet and wonderful, big ground covering movement.  He was extremely large of eye with a large, deep jowel which is so lacking today.  He was kind and easy going but flamboyant in the showring.  He was never shown to the extreme but was shown kindly and responded to same.

We will miss him every day and he will remain in our hearts always.

We sincerely thank Grant for entrusting us with this beautiful horse for his entire lifetime.
